What We DON'T Teach

Political Bias

Political Bias

Political Bias

  • Any talk about politics will be free of partisan bias and will be limited to generally educating kids on the systems of government and learning to openly discuss different beliefs with civility and reason.

Cultural Bias

Political Bias

Political Bias

  • While we are a church based organization built around Biblical beliefs, a true follower of Christ loves all spiritual and cultural differences.  We will never describe cultures outside our own as anything less than different and teach the kids to appreciate diversity, not hate it.

Judgement

Political Bias

Judgement

  • As humans, our place is only to discern what is right for us and to never judge another person's imperfections.  While critiquing someone's behavior, abilities, or ideas honestly and constructively is ok, we will never promote the idea that someone else is a worse human than ourselves.

Equality

Sex Education

Judgement

  • Participation trophies do not help the growth of any individual.  All students must experience the reality of life at its core and learn to earn based on efforts.  This does not mean punishment, but rather the chance to learn the essence of working towards goals in a positive way.

Favoritism

Sex Education

Sex Education

No students will ever experience favoritism.  In this essence they will be treated as equals.  Every student deserves the same opportunity to advance, to have guidance, and to have a mentor who does not favor any student over themselves.  Students will be encouraged to work together with each student and not just the ones they bond with easily.

Sex Education

Sex Education

Sex Education

This is absolutely up to the parents of the student to educate them at their own pace, with their own discernment.  If students are of a necessary age and parents feel they do not have the capacity to teach them we can arrange private or small group settings with the parent of each student present and only after each parent has approved any lessons as appropriate for their child.

Facts and FAQs

Sample Daily Rhythm

  • Blood Flow: starting out the day with fitness to get the kids’ physical bodies satisfied and charged up to learn
  • Acellus: at pace, generally aiming for 50% daily completion
  • Art or Music: a great way to let the learned material process
  • Lunch or Snacks: enriching whole foods to fuel the mind for further learning and encourage hormonal balance for focus
  • Acellus: finishing daily requirements
  • Reflection & Social Time: tutoring support for any strugglers, peer engagement, and wrap-up
  • Outdoor or Indoor Extracurricular Activities: weather-based play, gardening, or practical skills
  • Optional Bible Study: through storytelling and engagement (after class or scheduled separately if families opt in)
  • Field Trip Days: override the daily curriculum, replacing core blocks with experiential learning

Ages and Capacity

  • Initial ages: ~5–16 (multi-age pods; older and mature students get leadership roles).
  • Student-to-guide ratio: small and personal; capped by space and safety.
  • Capacity: We’ll start with a limited number of 10-15 seats and grow responsibly, possibly expanding with new or alternating pods.
  • If applications exceed expectations we will create cyclical schedules to accommodate.

Location and Safety Notes

  • Hosted in our dedicated home-learning environment in Peru, Indiana.
  • Huskies on site (4): Children are trained in respectful behavior around dogs. One is a trained service dog. They are outdoor dogs so they will not be a distraction during learning hours. Dogs are supervised or separated during key times. Parents must disclose any dog allergies or fears on the application.
  • Aquariums / small critters: Observe only unless supervised handling is approved.
  • Allergies & medical: Families must list allergies, medications, and emergency contacts.

Field Trips and Transportation

  • Trips run only when we have enough approved chaperones and safe transport for everyone.
  • Families may be asked to provide seats/boosters per Indiana law.
  • Rental vans may be necessary and costs will be split amongst participating student parents.
  • Signed permission slips are required for each trip.

Volunteers & Guests

We welcome parent chaperones, guest teachers (crafts, trades, science demos), and community mentors.

  • All volunteers follow our conduct, safety, and photo/media policies.
  • Certain roles may require a simple background check.

If you’d like to present a skill or host a visit, let us know in the application

Lunch & Snacks

  • Depending on enrollment, we may offer community snacks or bring-your-own.
  • Healthy options encouraged (fruits, whole foods, water).
  • Please avoid nut products if any student in the pod has a severe nut allergy. This will be made known if it is the case.

Code of Conduct

  • Kindness & respect—for people, animals, and property.
  • Listen & try—growth mindset, safe risk-taking, and teamwork.
  • Clean as we go—everyone helps reset the space.
  • Device policy—personal devices stay away during learning blocks.
  • Zero tolerance for bullying, threats, or unsafe behavior.

Weather, Sick, or Safety Policies

  • Weather: We play outside when it’s safe; dress for the day (layers, boots, gloves).
  • Sick policy: Please keep children home with fever, vomiting, diarrhea, or contagious symptoms.
  • Emergencies: We keep basic first-aid on site and will contact parents immediately if needed.
  • Photo/Media: Families choose opt-in or opt-out for photos/videos; we respect your choice.

FAQs

-Is this a full replacement for school?

Yes—Acellus provides accredited academics; we add the hands-on enrichment.

-Do we have to do Bible Study?

No. It’s optional. If a pod includes families that opt out, we move it outside core hours.

-Can parents stay?

For the first week, yes (short windows). After that, by arrangement or as volunteers after approved background check.

-What about testing and progress?

Acellus tracks mastery. We share weekly summaries and set goals with families.

-What should my child bring?

Water bottle, weather-appropriate clothes, lunch/snack (unless we confirm provided), and a positive attitude.

-How many days of the year will this run?

Classes will be available year round, as long as the student satisfies 180 days of schooling they meet the state requirements. Any and all additional enrollment is optional but recommended.

-Can they take vacation outside of the school’s planned vacation time?
Yes! In fact, this is recommended. We don’t want your life dictated by binding schedules as freedom is the spirit of homeschooling.

-Why is this program $600/month? The average cost for Montessori school tuition can range significantly, but generally falls between $12,000 and $18,000 per year in the US for private schools, though some programs can be as low as $8,800 or as high as $35,000 or more annually. This excludes summer vacation.  Our program covers year round schooling with flexible attendance to accelerate our students further and more quickly for less, totalling only $7200 for yearly tuition per child for the full year round program.
